Safe Trip vs International SOS
International SOS is the largest medical-and-security travel-assistance company in the world. It serves multinational enterprises and governments through long term contracts that bundle intelligence, medical assistance, and field response. The combined product is comprehensive, and priced accordingly.
Safe Trip unbundles the intelligence layer. We don’t operate clinics in Mumbai or send drivers to Lagos. We do publish a transparent, daily-updated travel-risk score and a duty-of-care dashboard your operations team can defend in a Monday-morning audit, for under €300 a month.
What overlaps
- Country-by-country travel risk intelligence drawn from the same primary sources (ACLED, WHO, USGS, government advisories)
- Trip pre-approval workflows (Pro tier and above)
- Real-time alerting when a destination’s risk picture changes
- Periodic reporting for duty-of-care compliance

When International SOS is the right choice
Pick International SOS when you operate in countries where ground-side medical and security response is a non-negotiable: oil and gas in volatile regions, NGOs with field staff in active conflict zones, multinationals with permanent expatriate populations. Their value is the network on the ground, not the dashboard in your browser.
When Safe Trip is the right choice
Pick Safe Trip when your travel-risk problem is visibility, policy, and duty-of-care reporting, and you want a tool your operations lead, not a security analyst, can run. Mid-market consultancies, study-abroad offices, NGOs with light field exposure, agencies, and travel desks at firms whose people fly business class but don’t need a kidnap-response retainer.
Many of our customers also keep an International SOS or assistance-provider relationship for ground response. Safe Trip and a real-world response provider are complements, not competitors, we tell you when the picture changes, they go execute.
Frequently asked
Can Safe Trip replace International SOS?
For the intelligence + duty-of-care reporting layer, yes, at a fraction of the price. For the medical-assistance and evacuation services International SOS bundles (with their global field network of doctors and security personnel), no. Many customers run both: International SOS for ground-side response, Safe Trip for daily intelligence and the dashboard their COO actually opens.
How is the pricing different?
International SOS pricing is enterprise-only, negotiated, typically thousands of dollars per month with multi-year contracts. Safe Trip for Teams Starter is €99/month (up to 25 employees), Pro is €299/month (up to 100), Enterprise from €500/month with custom seats. Safe Trip Starter is self-serve checkout, no procurement.
What about medical evacuation?
International SOS operates one of the largest assistance networks in the world: 9 international assistance centres, ~1,200 in-house medical and security professionals. Safe Trip does not offer medical or security ground response. We are an intelligence and duty-of-care reporting product. If a Safe Trip alert flags a medical risk during a trip, the response provider is your insurer or assistance partner, not us.
Does Safe Trip have the same data sources?
Yes, both products draw from the same authoritative sources for risk intelligence: ACLED, WHO, USGS, NOAA, GDACS, the major government travel advisories. Where International SOS adds value is its in-house medical and security analysts producing bespoke advisories. Safe Trip's value is making the underlying data legible and auditable for non-specialists.
Is this for me if my company has 50 people, not 5,000?
Probably yes. Safe Trip was built specifically for mid-market organisations whose travel risk doesn't justify a six figure annual contract but whose duty-of-care obligations are real. The COO of a 200-person consultancy who travels four people to client sites every week has the same legal exposure as the security director at a Fortune 500. Safe Trip is the proportionate tool.
