Terms of Service
Welcome to Safe Trip (“Safe Trip,” “we,” “our”), available at safetripindex.com. These Terms of Service govern your use of our public website and the country, region, and methodology pages we publish. By using the site, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What Safe Trip is
Safe Trip publishes the Safe Trip Score, a 0 to 100 number computed daily for each country from publicly available data sources (including the World Health Organization, the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, ACLED, USGS, NOAA, GDACS, and the major government travel advisories). The score is accompanied by sub-scores, an event timeline, methodology, and an algorithm changelog.
2. Informational use only, not advice
Safe Trip Scores and the underlying content on this site are informational only. They are not, and must not be relied on as, professional travel, medical, security, financial, or legal advice. Risk conditions can change rapidly. Always consult your government’s official travel advisory and qualified professionals before travelling.
Safe Trip makes no warranty, express or implied, as to the accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose of any content on the site.
3. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Scrape, mass-download, or systematically copy our scores, methodology, or content without our written permission. For programmatic access, use the public API when it launches.
- Misrepresent the score or methodology, alter it before re-publishing, or strip the source attribution.
- Use the site to harass, defame, or harm any country, organisation, or individual.
- Use the site in a manner that violates any applicable law, including export-control or sanctions law.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to our infrastructure, or probe / pen-test without coordinating with us through our security disclosure process at /security.
4. Citation
You may cite Safe Trip Scores in editorial, academic, or non-commercial contexts with attribution: please use the form “Safe Trip Score: n/100, retrieved YYYY-MM-DD, safetripindex.com” and link to the country page where possible. Algorithm versions are immutable and you may pin a specific version when citing.
5. Intellectual property
The Safe Trip name, wordmark, methodology, score algorithm, page designs, and code are owned by Safe Trip or its licensors. The methodology document itself is published under CC BY 4.0, you may share and adapt it with attribution.
Country flags, government advisory text, and underlying source data remain the property of their respective publishers and are used here under fair use, fair dealing, or the relevant licences.
6. Third-party links
The site links to government advisories, source publishers, and (in some cases) clearly-labelled affiliate partners (travel insurance, eSIM, visa services). Affiliate revenue does not influence the underlying score. We make no warranty about third-party sites or services. When you click an affiliate link, that partner’s own terms and privacy policy apply.
7. Changes
We may update these terms; the effective date and version above will change accordingly. Material changes will also be announced on the changelog. Continued use after a change constitutes acceptance.
8. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Safe Trip is not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, revenue, profits, or goodwill, arising from your use of the site or reliance on any score or content. Our aggregate liability for any direct damages will not exceed €100 or the amount you have paid us in the prior 12 months, whichever is greater.
9. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of Portugal. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of Lisbon, except where consumer protection law gives you the right to bring proceedings in your country of residence.
